Frontier League Hot Stove Notebook
« Back

October 31, 2008 - A longtime Frontier League face won't be in the circuit in 2009. The Florence Freedom have announced that manager Jamie Keefe will not return.

Keefe managed the Freedom in 2005-08. He played shortstop for Chillicothe and was later the Paints' manager.

Chad Parker is the new manager of the River City Rascals. He replaces Toby Rumfield, who was fired at the end of the season. Parker managed Macon of the now-defunct South Coast League in 2007.

The Rascals have dealt former RiverHawk Andrew Sweet to Joliet of the independent Northern League in a six-player deal. Sweet, a catcher, outfielder Luke Barganier and a player to be named later went to the Jackhammers for pitcher/outfielder Chris Kinsey, pitcher Jared Sutton and catcher Jason Scherrer.

Former Paint Mike Cervenak was in the dugout with the Philadelphia Phillies for the World Series. Cervenak, who was not on the postseason roster, made his major-league debut with the Phillies this summer.
