Frontier League in Ypsilanti, Avon in '09
« Back

October 9, 2008 - The Frontier League will have franchises in Ypsilanti, Mich. and Avon, Ohio in 2009.

The Midwest Sliders, who played as a travel team in 2008, will play their home games in suburban Detroit and will be known formally as the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti. The Slippery Rock Sliders came into the league in the 2007 expansion and played a limited home schedule in their first year. Former RiverHawk Bryan Vickers plays for the Sliders.

The yet-to-be-named Avon team will play in suburban Cleveland. The Chillicothe Paints, the last team from the league's first season, 1993, that was still in its original market, left V.A. Memorial Stadium at the end of the season.
