Sun shines on KC bandwagon
« Back

April 9, 2008 - The Kansas City bandwagon is clearly off to a hot start, as are the Royals.

In our most recent online poll, a prediction of which team will win the AL Central, nearly half the votes went to Kansas City, which hasn't been in the playoffs since 1985.

KC is the only member of the division that once had a minor-league affiliate in Rockford, but odds are that didn't have much influence on the poll.

KC gained 31 of 73 votes (42 percent). The Royals entered play on Wednesday 5-2, tied for first in the division with Chicago. Just 13 votes went to the Sox, one fewer than 0-7 Detroit gained.

Cleveland got no love. The defending division champion drew just seven votes, less than 10 percent of the total, and finished last in polling. Eight votes went to Minnesota.
