Ex-RiverHawk Turay traded

November 6, 2007 - Former RiverHawk Alhaji Turay will be playing for his fourth team in two seasons when spring training opens in a few months.

The veteran outfielder was traded last Thursday by Quebec to the Yuma Scorpions of the independent Golden League. Les Capitales of the indepenent Can-Am League picked up outfielder Michael Gross in the deal.

Turay, New York's second-round pick in the 2001 draft - he was the Mets' third pick after Aaron Heilman and David Wright - split 2007 among three independent teams - the traveling Road Warriors of the Atlantic League, the RiverHawks and Quebec. Turay hit .347 with four home runs and 21 RBI in 42 games for Rockford. The RiverHawks released him on Aug. 14.
