Frontier League Hot Stove Notes
« Back

November 6, 2007 - Two Frontier League teams will have new voices this season.

Veteran Kalamazoo Kings broadcaster Mike Levine left Michigan last month for his native Miami, where he is once again working in radio. Scott Gierman, the voice of the Savannah Sand Gnats of the South Atlantic League since 2005, has joined the Southern Illinois Miners. He replaces Mike Lockert.

Washington reliever Travis Risser was picked up by Tampa Bay. Risser went 4-2 with a 1.09 ERA and six saves in 25 games for the Wild Things. Last month, Risser was named one of the top 10 prospects in independent baseball by Baseball America magazine.

Evansville was involved in an interleague trade last week. Sussex of the Can-Am League sent catcher Chris Crescenzi to the Otters as the player to be named in an April 22 deal.

In the independent Northern League, Winnipeg exercised its 2008 options on former RiverHawks Aaron McEachran and Dan Ziegler.
