August 14, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – On Sunday, the RiverHawks will play to benefit victims of the recent Rockford flood.

City Firefighters Union Local 413 will host a fundraiser as the RiverHawks play the Southern Illinois Miners at 6:05 p.m. A truck will be in place to accept non-perishable food items and back-to-school supplies. Each person who donates will receive 50 percent off the price of their ticket.

Citizens who make a monetary donation will be entered into a drawing to win: two round-trip tickets out of Rockford International Airport; four family four-packs and four tickets to CoCo Key Indoor Water Park; Road Ranger gas cards; gift packs from the RiverHawks and IceHogs; a car detailing package from Saturn of Rockford and a Congressional Cookbook from Congressman Don Manzullo.

Sunday’s sponsor, Feldco, will donate $4500 worth of windows to flood victims.

The RiverHawks donated tickets to flood victims through the fire department. They will be transported via bus to the game.

“We will be raising money and giving the victims an opportunity to get away from what they’re going through,” RiverHawks general manager Josh Olerud said.

Fireworks will follow the game.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet.
