RiverHawks seek host families

March 31, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Love the Rockford RiverHawks enough to want to take one home with you? The team is happy to oblige.

The RiverHawks are looking for host families to potentially house players during the season. Players may be assigned housing as early as the first week of May. Pending the length of the postseason, players may be in homes as late as mid-September.

“We’ve had a successful program in the past and we encourage families to join in the excitement of our new ballpark as we enter our fifth season,” community relations director Dawn Plock said. “It’s an enriching experience to become involved in the life of a ballplayer and watch him pursue his dream of reaching the major leagues. A number of our players have kept in touch with their host families even after they have left Rockford.”

Host families can enjoy many benefits in exchange for providing room and board: up to four season tickets (depending on household size), a VIP parking pass, a discount card for purchases in the team store, one giveaway item per household on each giveaway night and monthly picnics with the whole team, all exclusive to host families.

Families interested in the program should contact Plock at (815) 885-2255.

Opening Day at brand-new RiverHawks Stadium is 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, when the ‘Hawks host the Evansville Otters. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 14th season in 2006. Advertising, season-ticket and suite information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
