Hawks activate Nyman, add Smith, release two

July 25, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Chris Nyman is off the disabled list and will pitch for the Rockford RiverHawks on Monday.

The RiverHawks activated Nyman from the seven-day DL. They put him on the DL, retroactive to July 18, last Thursday because of bursitis. Nyman is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA and will make his second appearance Monday.

The RiverHawks have also added rookie first baseman Kevin Smith. Smith, a 25-year-old rookie, hit .195 with no home runs and four RBI in 11 games earlier this season with El Paso of the independent American Association. Smith hit .437 with 16 homers and 72 RBI this spring at NAIA Louisiana State University – Shreveport.

The RiverHawks made room on the roster with the release of first baseman Jeremy Hamilton and catcher Elvin Millan, Jr. Hamilton hit .207 with four home runs and 22 RBI in 53 games. Millan hit .200 with two home runs and four RBI in nine games.
