July 6, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks have added a former Milwaukee farmhand to the roster.

Rockford’s only professional baseball team announced on Wednesday that it has signed pitcher Corey Frerichs. The right-hander was the Brewers’ 30th-round pick in the 2007 draft.

Frerichs reached Class AA earlier this season. He was 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA in seven appearances with the Huntsville Stars of the Southern League and 0-3 with a 6.00 ERA and two saves in 14 appearances with the high Class A Brevard County Manatees of the Florida State League. The Brewers released him from the FSL on June 19.

The Brewers used Frerichs as a closer at two stops – he had 10 saves with low A West Virginia in 2008 and 12 with the Manatees last year.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 19th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
