RiverHawks to hold Fourth of July eating contest

June 28, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks will host a hot dog eating contest at Road Ranger Stadium when they play the Evansville Otters at 1:05 p.m. on the Fourth of July.

Contestants will be required to eat 15 Bobak’s hot dogs. Whoever eats them the fastest wins a $500 cash prize.

There is a $25 fee to enter the contest, which includes a ticket to the game. There is a limit of 20 contestants, and it is on a first come, first serve basis. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate.

The contest is sponsored by Bobak’s and the Pan-O-Gold Baking Company.

The Fourth of July game against Evansville is also Picnic at the Park Day, sponsored by RBI’s Bar and Grill and Miller Lite. Along with the special holiday start time, several ballpark food items and all beer and soda is just $1. Gates open at 12:05 p.m.
