RiverHawks win, 14-6, with 20-hit performance

June 12, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks cranked out a season-high 20 hits and blew out the Gateway Grizzlies, 14-6, Sunday at Road Ranger Stadium.

Leadoff hitter Freddy Parejo was 4-for-5, scored three runs and drove in another. Matt Greener was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI and Carlos Dominguez was 3-for-4.

The RiverHawks rallied for four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-1 lead. Parejo doubled, advanced on a Dave Cooper sacrifice and scored on Jake Eigsti’s double. Jeremy Hamilton doubled home Eigsti and, with two outs, Cam Satterwhite doubled in two.

The RiverHawks sent 27 men to the plate over the first three innings. They added four runs in the second inning and three runs in the third.

Starting pitcher Guido Fonseca, Jr. snapped a three-start losing streak with the win. Fonseca (2-3) gave up four runs, three earned, on nine hits over six innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

Gateway starter Josh Whitlock (2-3) lasted just 1 1/3 innings and gave up eight runs on nine hits.

Ryan Khoury homered in a losing effort.

The RiverHawks visit Windy City for a three-game series starting at 7:05 p.m. Monday. It will be aired live on ESPN 1380.
