Austin, O’Sullivan, Rocko to make appearances

April 21, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill – Newly hired Rockford RiverHawks manager Rich Austin and hitting coach Patrick O’Sullivan will be at the Flodin Boys & Girls Club Friday, April 22 from noon to 2 p.m.

Austin and O’Sullivan will run an instructional baseball camp for 75 kids who play for the Boys & Girls Club of Rockford teams. The kids will learn baseball fundamentals and participate in a clinic run by two former players who are well known around the Stateline for their power hitting.

“The Boys & Girls Club has partnered with us for the past few years, and we want to continue to strengthen that relationship,” Austin said. “I believe that everything starts with our youth, so we want to continue to make ourselves available to the community.”

The Flodin Boys & Girls Club is located at 988 South Lyford Road in Rockford.

Then on Saturday, April 30, fans can see Rocko the RiverHawk at the Genoa-Kirkland Boys Youth Baseball Opening Day ceremonies.

Rocko’s day begins at Genoa Elementary North at 10:30 a.m., where he will entertain fans and be present for player introductions. Then at 11:45 a.m., Rocko will arrive in Kirkland for opening day at Franklin Township Park.

Genoa Elementary North is located at 602 East Hill St., and Franklin Township Park is next to Hiawatha Elementary School at 410 South 1st St. in Kirkland.
