RiverHawks finalize 2011 promo calendar

April 20, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill – Opening Day is right around the corner, and the Rockford RiverHawks announced Wednesday their promotional schedule for the 2011 season.

The RiverHawks begin the season on Friday, May 20 at 7:05 p.m. at Road Ranger Stadium against Traverse City. Be sure to stick around after the game for a fireworks show, sponsored by Gilley’s Heating and Air.

On Saturday, May 21 vs. Traverse City (6:05 p.m.), the first 1,000 fans will receive a RiverHawks magnet schedule, sponsored by Rockford Health System. It is also the first of three YMCA discount nights, and a Groupon night. The other YMCA discount nights are May 25 and August 31.

Sunday, May 22 vs. Traverse City (2:05 p.m.) is not only the first Family Day, but also a Rockford Register Star Daily Deals day and the final magnet schedule giveaway. Once again, the first 1,000 fans in attendance will get a RiverHawks magnet schedule.

Tuesday, May 24 vs. Lake Erie (7:05 p.m.) is the last Rockford Register Star Daily Deals game, and the first of four Dog Days of Summer games, sponsored by Petco. Bring your dog out to the ballpark on this night, as well as on June 7, July 5, and August 2.

Wednesday, May 25 vs. Lake Erie (7:05 p.m.) is the first RiverHawks Idol Night, and the final Groupon game.

Wednesday, June 8 vs. River City (7:05 p.m.) is the first of two Faith Nights. Churches can buy individual or group tickets for these games. Each group will be recognized over the stadium public-address system, and one will be selected to sing during the seventh-inning stretch. The second Faith Night is on August 3 at 7:05 p.m.

On Friday, June 10 vs. Gateway (7:05 p.m.), the first 1,000 fans will receive the All-Time RiverHawks team poster, sponsored by The Hemmens and Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet.

On Saturday, June 11 vs. Gateway (6:05 p.m.), the first 1,000 fans at the ballpark will get a logo baseball, sponsored by the Illinois Railway Museum.

In honor of Father’s Day, Saturday, June 18 vs. Lake Erie (6:05 p.m.) is Play Catch on the Field and Prostate Cancer Awareness Night. Before the game, fathers can take the field with their sons and daughters to play catch.

On Saturday, June 25 vs. Joliet (6:05 p.m.) the first 1,000 fans will receive a commemorative 10th season mini-pennant.

Monday, June 27 vs. Joliet (12:05 p.m.) is Splash Day.

From July 2-4, the RiverHawks will play a three-game series against the Evansville Otters. The games on July 2 and 3 start at 6:05 p.m., and feature special Independence Fireworks shows, sponsored by Rock Valley College. Then on the Fourth of July there is a special start time of 1:05 p.m. for Picnic at the Park Day, sponsored by RBI’s Bar and Grill and Miller Lite. All ballpark food items, and beer and soda are only $1.

Wednesday, July 6 vs. Florence (7:05 p.m.) is Breast Cancer Awareness Night, sponsored by Rock Valley Federal Credit Union. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free pink t-shirt.

On Friday, July 22 vs. Washington (7:05 p.m.), the first 1,000 fans at the ballpark will get a RiverHawks baseball hat, sponsored by Gerber Collision.

All Scouts are invited to watch the RiverHawks play on Saturday, July 23 vs. Washington (6:05 p.m.), and then camp out on the field after the game and stay overnight. Breakfast will be served the following morning. Scout Campout Night is sponsored by GFS Marketplace.

Monday, July 25 vs. Windy City (7:05 p.m.) is Power Connection Night, sponsored by Power Connection.

There is a special start time of 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26 vs. Windy City for Summer Day.

On Friday, August 5 vs. Normal (7:05 p.m.), the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive the official Rockford RiverHawks baseball card set, sponsored by Power Connection.

Saturday, August 6 vs. Normal (6:05 p.m.) is the youth baseball glove giveaway for the first 1,000 kids at the ballpark, sponsored by OSF St. Anthony Healthcare.

On Wednesday, August 17 vs. Windy City (7:05 p.m.), the first 1,000 fans at the ballpark will receive a Rocko Bobblehead Doll, sponsored by Metro Medical Services. The RiverHawks Idol Semi-Finals will also take place this night.

Friday, August 19 vs. Washington (7:05 p.m.) is MDA Jersey Off Their Backs Night sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Fans can bid on the RiverHawks player jerseys throughout the night, and the winners will be announced after the game.

On Saturday, August 20 vs. Washington (6:05 p.m.), the first 1,000 fans will get a fleece blanket, sponsored by Rock Valley College.

The search for the RiverHawks Idol comes to an end on Wednesday, August 31 vs. Traverse City (7:05 p.m.) with the contest finals.

Come out to Road Ranger Stadium for the final series of the 2011 season against Joliet from September 2-4. Get discounted tickets for these games by showing proof of attendance at the On the Waterfront Music Festival. Saturday, September 3 is also Fan Appreciation Night with postgame fireworks, sponsored by Gilley’s Heating and Air.

“It’s going to be an action-packed summer with all the promotions we have for this season,” general manager Brad Sholes said. “There are a lot of new promotions that we haven’t had in the past.”
