April 19, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill – For the first time in Rockford RiverHawks franchise history, kids 12 and under can now enjoy any game at Road Ranger Stadium at a discounted price.

The RiverHawks announced Tuesday that all children’s tickets in 2011 will be $2 off the regular price, and among the new weekly promotions are Kids Eat Free Tuesdays and Sunday Family Days.

Six Tuesday games will feature Kids Eat Free Night, sponsored by Thompsons’ Transmission. On those nights, children 12 and under with a ticket will receive a hot dog, bag of chips, and a cookie free of charge. The Kids Eat Free games are on May 24, June 7, July 5, August 2, August 16, and August 30. All game times are set for 7:05 p.m.

On Sunday Family Days, kids 12 and under will receive a ticket for just $2. They will also have easy access to RiverHawks players for autographs, and can run the bases after the game. Free train rides, sponsored by the Illinois Railway Museum and Bounce O’Rama, will be offered as well. Sunday games will be at varied times, including 2:05, 4:05, and 6:05 p.m. Sunday, July 3 is excluded from this promotion due to the Fourth of July Weekend fireworks show.

“It’s going to be a great summer out here at Road Ranger Stadium, especially for families,” general manager Brad Sholes said. “We have always dedicated ourselves to being affordable family entertainment, and this year we’ve brought that to a new level with the introduction of these new promotions.”

Opening Night for the RiverHawks’ 10th season is 7:05 p.m. Friday, May 20, when they host Traverse City. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
