RiverHawks promote Sholes to GM

November 9, 2010 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The newest general manager of the Rockford RiverHawks came in at the ground floor.

Rockford’s only professional baseball team announced on Monday that it has promoted Brad Sholes to the GM position. Sholes replaces Josh Olerud, the longest-tenured GM in the club’s history.

“I’m both thankful and excited for the opportunity that I have with the RiverHawks,” Sholes said. “I look forward to working with the staff to continue our success.”

Sholes had been director of tickets and finance since Sept. 2006. Like his predecessor, Sholes started with the organization as an intern. He was retained at the end of that season.

Olerud, who had been the GM since January 2006, took the same role with the Potomac Nationals, the Washington Nationals’ high Class A affiliate in the Carolina League.

Sholes has also worked with the 2005 NFL Quarterback Challenge and the 2005 PGA Tour’s Ford Championship. He is a native of Owen, Wis., and a 2004 graduate of Ripon College, in Ripon, Wis., where he earned degrees in both economics and business administration. Sholes also holds a master’s degree in sport management from Barry University in Miami Shore, Fla.

Sholes and his wife, Anne, live in Machesney Park with their daughter, Hadley, and their dog, Bucky.
