August 21, 2010 - GARY, Ind. – Rich Austin hit a grand slam and Jake Eigsti also homered on Saturday as the Rockford RiverHawks beat the Gary SouthShore RailCats, 7-3, at U.S. Steel Yard.

The RiverHawks led from the first inning on and snapped a three-game losing streak. Vic Buttler led off the game with a single, stole second base and advanced to third on an errant throw by Gary catcher John Parham. Jason James singled him home.

In the second inning, Eigsti drew a leadoff walk and Jono Brooks reached on a bunt single. After a sacrifice, Buttler walked to load the bases and Austin homered to left off rookie starter Andy Weeks. Weeks (1-1) gave up seven hits and walked five in 3 2/3 innings.

Rockford starter Roger Lincoln (6-7) gave up three runs on seven hits over five-plus innings for the win. Gary rallied in the fifth inning on Adam Klein’s RBI double and Cristian Guerrero’s two-out, two-run double to right field. James, the Rockford center fielder, threw out Guerrero at third base. James, with 11 outfield assists, leads Northern League center fielders.
