August 5, 2010 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Jason James had three hits, including the 500th of his professional career, as the Rockford RiverHawks beat the Schaumburg Flyers, 6-2, on Thursday at Road Ranger Stadium.
James, who has spent his entire career with the RiverHawks and is the team’s all-time hit king, was 3-for-4 with three RBI, including a run-scoring groundout.
Rockford never trailed. The RiverHawks scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first on James’ 500th hit, a single to center field. Evan McArthur led off a three-run second inning with his fourth home run of the year.
Rockford starter Mike Wood (2-5) went seven innings for the win. Wood gave up two runs on nine hits, but was supported by four double plays. Schaumburg starter Todd Moser (2-7) lasted just 1 2/3 innings and took the loss.
The RiverHawks are at Fargo for three games this weekend. The series opens at 7:02 p.m. Friday.
