James bobblehead, Faith Night, Scout Night, and fireworks as 'Hawks return home

July 26, 2010 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks open a 10-game homestand with the annual Splash Day spectacular. Highlights of the homestand include the Jason James 40-game hitting streak bobblehead, TLN Faith Night, Fireworks, Scout Night, and the usual promotions at Road Ranger Stadium.

All the action begins at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday when the RiverHawks host the Winnipeg Goldeyes. It’s the annual Splash Day, where the RiverHawks turn the stadium into a water park. Tickets are just $4 (excludes Diamond Deck and Premium Box).

Wednesday is the second TLN Faith Night. Rockford’s own RAMI Award-winning progressive Christian rock trio Silver will perform before and after the game. Wednesday is also a Rock River Valley Blood Center “Straight to the Heart Wednesday”. Fans can receive tickets by donating blood at any RRVBC location. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

The RiverHawks host the Goldeyes in the series finale Thursday. It’s a Boys and Girls Club Night as well as Home Improvement Night. Local Home Improvement businesses will be on the concourse to help fans with all their home improvement needs. It’s another 2nd Cousin’s Bar and Grill and Miller Lite dollar beer night, with a 70’s theme. The Poet’s Dance will perform a postgame concert. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

The first-place Kansas City T-Bones make their first appearance at Road Ranger Stadium Friday. The first 1,000 fans will receive Jason James 40-game hitting streak bobblehead dolls, courtesy of Pepsi, BOB FM, and WIFR. It’s also a Road Ranger Free Gas Friday where random fans in attendance can win free gas. All fans can enjoy a Friday Fish Fry by visiting the concession stands at the ballpark for a fish and chips basket. Friday is also the Rotary Night to cure polio. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Saturday is the annual Scout Night; local scout members will campout in the outfield and watch movies on the scoreboard after the RiverHawks game against Kansas City. Pepsi will sponsor a postgame fireworks show. It’s also Star Wars Night with characters from the movies in attendance to sign autographs and re-create scenes. Roxy Carmichael hosts Ladies’ Night. Game begins at 6:05 p.m.

Sunday is a Cost Cutters and MyGofer.com Family day. The Illinois Railway Museum and Midwest Rail Junction provide free train rides during the game. After the game, kids can run the bases. It is Scott Roehl baseball card giveaway day and all players will be available for autographs following the game. Sunday is Go Green Night, and also the American Cancer Society’s “Bark for Life” mini-relay. First pitch is 4:05 p.m.

The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league in its 18th season.
