T-Bones blast four homers in 10-1 blowout

July 25, 2010 - KANSAS CITY, Kan. –The Kansas City T-Bones hit four home runs in a nine-run second inning Sunday and beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 10-1, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Ray Sadler hit two home runs in the inning, both off Rockford starter Mike Wood. Dwayne White and Jake Blackwood also homered.

The RiverHawks slipped two games behind Winnipeg for the last Northern League playoff spot. The Goldeyes beat Schaumburg, 12-9.

The first six batters in the Kansas City second scored. Sadler homered on the first pitch of the inning to break a scoreless tie. White lined a three-run shot to right field for his 10th home run. With two on and one out, Blackwood hit his 16th homer of the year. Two batters later, Sadler hit a two-run shot, his 10th home run of the year, to knock out Wood. Wood (1-4) gave up eight hits and a walk in the 12-batter inning.

Kansas City starter Reid Santos (4-3) scattered four hits over five shutout innings.

Franco Valdes broke the shutout with his first professional hit, a two-out RBI double in the ninth inning.

The RiverHawks open a 10-game homestand at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 27 against Winnipeg. It’s the Big Splash Spectacular and a Two-For Tuesday.
