Goldeyes rally, beat RiverHawks, 5-2

May 28, 2010 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks wasted seven solid innings from starting pitcher Roger Lincoln, as well as numerous scoring opportunities, in a 5-2 loss to the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Friday.

The Goldeyes rallied for four runs in the eighth inning, in front of 2,318 at Road Ranger Stadium. The RiverHawks, meanwhile, left the bases loaded in the eighth and stranded two in the ninth. Rockford left a season-high 13 runners on base, eight of them in scoring position.

Lincoln, who had a no-decision, held Winnipeg to an unearned run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out two without a walk.

The RiverHawks took the lead with two runs in the sixth inning. Randall Simon, who later left the game with a hip flexor injury, and Jake Eigsti started the inning with back-to-back doubles. Eigsti later scored on a fielder’s choice to give the RiverHawks a 2-1 lead.

Rockford reliever Brandon Todd (0-1) got into trouble in the eighth with a pair of walks. Juan Diaz singled in the tying run. Kevin West singled an 0-2 pitch into center field to give the Goldeyes the lead. Both scored on Dee Brown’s double to left.

Ian Thomas (1-0) won in relief. Phillip Roy got the last five outs for his second save.
