Sweet Lou bobblehead, Peter Longo, and super heroes higlight homestand

May 25, 2010 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks return home tomorrow to begin a five game homestand. Jones Transportation, WIFR and BOB FM sponsor the Lou Pinella bobblehead giveaway. The first 1,000 fans through the Road Ranger Stadium gates Saturday will receive the bobblehead representing the Chicago Cubs skipper. Gates always open one hour before gametime.

The first game of the homestand is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow as the ‘Hawks take on Gary. It is the first Rock River Valley Blood Center “Straight from the Heart Wednesday”. Fans who donate blood at the RVBC’s downtown, Perryville, or Belvidere locations will receive a complimentary ticket to the game.

Thursday night is another 2nd Cousins Bar and Grill and Miller Lite “Thirsty Thursday”. Fans can enjoy $1 Miller Lite drafts in the beer garden during the game. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Winnipeg will make its first appearance at Road Ranger Stadium Friday night. The RiverHawks and Goldeyes are scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start with fireworks following the game. Random fans in attendance will win free gas all night long, courtesy of Road Ranger. In addition, all fans can enjoy a Friday Fish Fry with a discounted fish basket and the new “Codfather” sandwich.

Besides the Lou Pinella bobblehead giveaway, Saturday night is OSF St. Anthony Golf appreciation night, featuring a pre-game performance from PGA trick shot artist Peter Longo (left). Saturday is also a Roxy Carmichael Ladies’ night. Game starts at 6:05 p.m.

Sunday is a Cost Cutters family day, with a super hero and kid’s character theme. Kids are welcome to dress in their favorite super hero, villain, or character costume. In addition, Illinois Railway museum and Midwest Rail Junction are sponsoring free train rides for all children. Following the game, kids ages 12 and under can run the bases. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05.

The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 18th season this summer.
