December 10, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest, a touring baseball carnival, is returning to Road Ranger Stadium on June 4. Not only will fans be treated to all the fun for free, but as an early Christmas present, the Rockford RiverHawks are offering fans a chance to get into that night’s game for free.
The Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest includes a traveling minor-league museum and more than 20 midway-style attractions, including batting cages, radar gun pitching challenge, steal home bungee run, giant "side by side" super slide, a video game trailer and much more. The event is free to the public and lasts from 4 p.m. until the start of that night’s 7:05 p.m. game.
The RiverHawks will give a free grandstand ticket for their June 4 game against Fargo-Moorhead to fans that bring in an item of clothing, toy, non-perishable food or pet supply for charitable donation at the RiverHawks’ second annual Christmas sale and donation drive, scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Road Ranger Stadium team store.
“Last year, we filled four bins of clothing and a full bin of food in just a few hours,” RiverHawks general manager Josh Olerud said. “We hope to top that this weekend.
"This is a chance to make a difference in the community, and in return, we want to give you a ticket to one of the more highly anticipated games of the season. If you haven’t been to FunFest, you’re missing out on one of our biggest annual attractions.”
The FunFest has been to Road Ranger Stadium each year since the stadium opened in 2006.
The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 18th season in 2010. The RiverHawks’ ninth season begins at 7:05 p.m. May 20 against the Schaumburg Flyers at Road Ranger Stadium. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255.
