Former RiverHawk in Triple-A
« Back

August 26, 2009 - Former RiverHawk Derrick Ellison was promoted by the New York Mets to Class AAA Buffalo. Ellison struck out one and walked one in a scoreless inning of relief in the Bisons’ 2-1 loss at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Sunday in his International League debut.

The Mets signed Ellison out of the independent Atlantic League earlier this month. Ellison made three scoreless, hitless appearances and picked up a win with the Mets’ Double-A Binghamton affiliate before New York promoted him.

The RiverHawks have never had a former player reach the major leagues. Rich Austin and Justin Dowdy both topped out at Triple-A. All three players were members of the RiverHawks' 2004 Frontier League championship team.
