August 15, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks’ all-time wins leader is headed to the disabled list for the first time in his four seasons in the Frontier League. In addition, the team’s closer-turned starter will miss the rest of the year.

The RiverHawks announced Saturday that Tanner Watson has been placed on the 14-day disabled list, retroactive to Wednesday. The right-hander has rotator cuff strain in his pitching shoulder. He was scratched from his last scheduled start, Thursday against Washington.

Watson, with 27 wins in a Rockford uniform, is also the league’s active wins leader. Watson is 4-3 with a 3.69 ERA in 11 starts and was an all-star this year.

The RiverHawks also announced that pitcher John Muller has been moved from the 14-day DL to the 60-day DL. The right-hander has been out for the last two weeks because of shoulder nerve impingement in his pitching arm. He has been hospitalized for the last week because of a blood infection. Muller, also an all-star, was 2-3 with a 2.60 ERA and 12 saves.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 17th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com. Most games are broadcast live on ESPN 1380, and on the team website.
