RiverHawks, MDA partner for jersey auction TONIGHT
« Back

August 15, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks are once again giving the shirts off their backs to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association, this time with a decidedly Chicago influence.

The RiverHawks will take the field for their 6:05 p.m. game on August 15 in one-night-only alternate jerseys inspired by the National Hockey League’s Chicago Blackhawks. Fans will have a chance to bid on the jerseys following the game. Proceeds will go to the MDA. Blackhawks forward Jack Skille, a former Rockford IceHog, will make a special appearance at the game.

The theme for the night is the Chicago Blackhawks Winter Classic jersey. Over the last three seasons, the RiverHawks have partnered with the MDA in various events and helped raise more than $200,000. The most notable jersey off the back events were 2006 and 2007 Danica Patrick visits.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 17th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on ESPN 1380 (WTJK-AM) and the internet. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
