RiverHawks announce Home Run Derby lineup

July 13, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Jason James and the top power hitters in the Frontier League are in the lineup for the All-Star Home Run Derby.

On Monday, the Rockford RiverHawks, the host team for this week’s 2009 Frontier League All-Star celebration at Road Ranger Stadium, announced the lineup for the Home Run Derby. Five players each from the East and West divisions are scheduled to compete.

The Jim Beam Cubs/White Sox Legends Game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday. The All-Star Home Run Derby immediately follows. The 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.

James, whose eight home runs leads the RiverHawks and is on a league-record 38-game hitting streak, will represent the RiverHawks. James is four home runs short of Rich Austin’s RiverHawks career record of 32.

Charlie Lisk, whose 17 homers leads the league, Stephen Holdren (14) and Joe Scaperotta (12) represent Gateway, which has combined for 81 home runs. Scaperotta had a 23-game hitting streak earlier this season. Evansville catcher Frank Meade (10) is also in the West lineup.

Florence second baseman Billy Mottram leads the East pack. Mottram has 16 home runs, second in the league. He’ll be joined by catcher Justin Pickett. Grant Psomas (15) and Jacob Dempsey (13) represent the Washington Wild Things. Lake Erie’s Andrew Davis (10) is also in the lineup.

Wednesday’s All-Star Game will be a Miller Lite/104.9 – the X Dollar Beer Night. The fun starts at 4 p.m. with the Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest. The Fun Fest, located in the stadium parking lot, is a free event. It features baseball skills games, a traveling baseball museum, the opportunity for fans to see their face on a baseball card or magazine cover, play baseball video games and more.

Tickets are $10 for outfield box seats, $15 for infield and home plate, for each day’s events. A two-day pass for infield and home-plate seats is available for $25.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 17th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255.
