June 24, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – On Wednesday the Rockford RiverHawks acquired pitcher Cody Sharp and placed Mike Rogers on the 14-day disabled list. Pitcher Chad Dawson was also released.

Sharp is a true rookie out of Spring Arbor University. As a starter in the 2009, his senior season, the left-hander posted a record of 1-1 in four appearances and a 4.32 ERA. In one outing he struck out 10 batters.

Rogers was placed on the DL with shoulder fatigue. Rogers (1-4, 9.11) has appeared in seven games this season, all as a starter. He was the opening-day starter on May 21. The RiverHawks have not yet determined who will take his spot in the starting pitcher rotation.

Dawson began the year on the DL and was never activated. He had 10 appearances last year with the Bristol White Sox in the rookie Appalachian League, with a record of 0-1 and a 2.70 ERA.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255.
