RiverHawks drop exhibition, 5-2

May 8, 2009 - SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks were held to six hits on Friday and dropped a 5-2 interleague exhibition game to the Northern League’s Schaumburg Flyers.

Two-time Frontier League All-Star Jason James was 1-for-2 for the RiverHawks. Offseason acquisition Rob Neigebauer pitched two scoreless innings.

Rockford is 0-2 in the preseason. The RiverHawks host the Gary Railcats of the Northern League in an exhibition at 3 p.m. Sunday at Road Ranger Stadium.

The Rockford RiverHawks are the most highly attended minor-league baseball team in the Stateline. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, May 21 at Windy City and play their home opener at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 26 against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti.
