Eat all you can on Diamond Deck

March 2, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Rockford RiverHawks fans can enjoy a ballgame and all they can eat and drink, for one affordable price.

The Rockford RiverHawks announced Monday that they have added the Diamond Deck, their all-inclusive hospitality area, for the 2009 season.

The Diamond Deck includes all-you-can-consume food and beverage and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The price for Diamond Deck admission is $25 on Thursday-Saturday and $23 on Sunday-Wednesday, and includes admission to the game. The Diamond Deck can be reserved by groups, but must be done in advance.

“While groups can book the Diamond Deck, the intention is really to serve the walkup crowd,” director of ticket operations Brad Sholes said. “It’s meant to give individuals or smaller parties that don’t have the numbers to book the picnic areas the ability to enjoy some of the same benefits that groups enjoy.”

The RiverHawks are following an industry trend. Baseball teams from the summer collegiate Madison Mallards to the Los Angeles Dodgers are offering similar packages.

“This is something we’ve been thinking about for the last couple of years,” Sholes said. “The success other teams have had with similar concepts is what really moved this idea forward.”

Fans in the Diamond Deck will be able to consume mass quantities of hot dogs, hamburgers, bratwursts and one rotating specialty item. In addition, they’ll be offered chips, popcorn, peanuts and rotating side items, such as salad and baked beans. Beverages, including soft drinks and Miller Lite products, are included.

While seating is located in the Diamond Deck, fans are still free to roam the concourse and purchase other items not on the menu; however, food and beverage obtained in the Diamond Deck must be consumed there.

Capacity of the Diamond Deck is approximately 100, so advance purchases are highly recommended. Fans who have already purchased tickets to the game can upgrade their ticket for Diamond Deck admission, if space is available.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. May 21 at Windy City and play their home opener at 7:05 p.m. May 26 against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti. The RiverHawks host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255.
