January 29, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks announced Thursday that they have signed two second-year professionals.

Pitcher Rob Neigebauer and first baseman Trent Lockwood have agreed to contracts.

Neigebauer is a former Baltimore farmhand. The Orioles signed the right-hander last year as an undrafted free agent out of Division II Palm Beach Atlantic University. He split last season between low Class A Delmarva of the South Atlantic League and high A Frederick of the Carolina League. He had a combined 4-1 record with a 4.33 earned-run average and a save in 18 total appearances. Neigebauer struck out 41 and walked 27 in 54 innings.

Lockwood went 0-for-4 in one game with El Paso of the independent American Association and hit .238 with no home runs and three RBI in eight games with Bay Area of the independent Continental League.

Last spring at Texas-San Antonio, Lockwood hit .340 with 16 home runs and 79 RBI.

Both Neigebauer, who turns 25 on March 6, and Lockwood, 22, have Rookie-2 status in the Frontier League.
