Cohen to return

December 4, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks announced Thursday that they have picked up the 2009 option on first baseman/outfielder Brandon Cohen.

Cohen, a Seton Hall product, hit .190 with three home runs and 12 RBI in an injury-shortened 2008 season. Cohen missed the first 38 games of the season because of a broken hamate bone and was limited to 137 at-bats. As a rookie in 2007, Cohen hit .273 with nine home runs and 29 RBI in just 139 at-bats.

Cohen has Rookie-2 status in the Frontier League.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season in 2009. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. May 21 at Windy City and host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15.
