November 14, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks on Friday announced the hiring of Meredith Carlson as the team’s director of group sales.

Carlson, 24, graduated from Wake Forest University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in entrepreneurship. She is also a graduate of Boylan High School. Prior to joining the RiverHawks, Carlson worked as an Intern with the Wake Forest University Athletic Development Office in Winston-Salem, NC. She spent her first year back in Rockford with Carlson Companies working in real estate sales and development. She is the daughter of team CEO Kurt Carlson.

“We are excited to have Meredith on board,” general manager Josh Olerud said. “She is an important piece of puzzle in our push to continue our annual attendance increase. Our groups have been crucial to our success, and we work hard at keeping them happy and coming back.”

Much of the RiverHawks’ attendance record of 138,234 set in 2008 was due to groups. One of the best ways to attend a RiverHawks game is with a group of family, friends, neighbors or coworkers. Group packages and pregame picnics for the 2009 season are now on sale. Because of the increasing popularity of pregame picnics, many preferred dates were sold out weeks in advance, so it is recommended to book your group as soon as possible.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season in 2009. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. May 21 at Windy City and host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
