Former RiverHawks in playoffs

September 12, 2008 - Three of the six former RiverHawks currently in affiliated baseball reached the postseason.

Reed Dickert, who pitched for the RiverHawks last season, was in the Class A South Atlantic League playoffs with the West Virginia Power. Dickert struck out three and pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief on Thursday, but the Milwaukee affiliate lost, 4-3, to visiting Augusta in the third and deciding game of the Sally finals.

Justin Dowdy, who was twice signed off the Rockford roster by major-league teams, is with Oakland's Triple-A Sacramento affiliate. Dowdy was promoted from Double-A Midland just before the end of the Pacific Coast League regular season. Dowdy gave up four runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief in Game 2 of the PCL finals against Oklahoma on Wednesday. The River Cats lost, 11-2, The best-of-five series, tied at 1-1, resumes Friday at Oklahoma City.

Catcher Christian Rosa has yet to appear in a playoff game with the Batavia Muckdogs, a St. Louis affiliate. The Muckdogs open the short-season Class A New York-Penn League finals Friday at Jamestown.
