RiverHawks offer prizes to record-breaking fan
« Back

August 19, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks will break their single-season attendance record on Tuesday and they are offering a special prize pack to the fan that puts them over the top.

The 696th fan through the gates at Road Ranger Stadium for Tuesday’s 7:05 p.m. game against Florence will give the RiverHawks a new season attendance record. That fan will receive a special prize pack that includes a $25 RiverHawks gift card, a pregame meet-and-greet with players, a chance to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, an official RiverHawks ball and a free seating upgrade.

“This is by far the biggest year in RiverHawks history,” RiverHawks assistant general manager of marketing and promotions Marshall Mackinder said. “We have nine home dates left and expect to smash our attendance record. Our fans and sponsors have played a great role in our success. The team has grown accustomed to playing in front of large crowds at home and we hope that trend will continue as they make their final push for the playoffs.”

The old record of 115,776 was set in 2006. The season, the RiverHawks have averaged 2,807 per game, up 13 percent from last year’s record average of 2,477. Last season because of weather, the RiverHawks had just 45 openings. This year, they have had one home rainout and weather, permitting, will have 50 openings.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
