Austin wins Italian home-run title

August 10, 2008 - Rich Austin led Fortitudo Bologna to the best record in the Italian professional league. Austin hit .366 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI to lead all three Triple Crown categories for Bologna, which finished the Serie A regular season with a 34-8 record. Austin led Italy in home runs, RBI, runs (43), total bases (105) and was third in the batting race.

Austin played for Rockford in 2002-04 and was the Frontier League Player of the Year in 2004. He is the RiverHawks' all-time leader in home runs and was the 2004 league batting champion.
