Ledbetter wins 50th as ‘Hawks lose

August 5, 2008 - WASHINGTON, Pa. – Aaron Ledbetter became the first 50-game winner in Frontier League history as the Washington Wild Things beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 10-3, on Tuesday.

Ledbetter, a FL pitcher since 2003, earned his 50th career win in the circuit. He gave up three runs on four hits over seven innings to improve his season record to 8-4. Ledbetter struck out seven without a walk.

The Wild Things scored three times in the first inning and led the rest of the way. Nathan Messner homered for Washington in the sixth inning.

Rockford’s Tony Gonzalez had a single, a sacrifice fly and two RBI.

Tim Flattery (2-2) started and took the loss.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season.
