August 4, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks have passed the 100,000 attendance mark earlier than ever before.

The RiverHawks have totaled 100,796 fans after a paid crowd of 3,028 at Road Ranger Stadium for Sunday’s win over the Midwest Sliders. The team hit the six-digit standard after just 35 of its 51 scheduled home dates.

“The support we have received this season has been unbelievable thus far," general manager Josh Olerud said. "I credit our increase in season and group sales, weekly promotions and what we feel are top-notch promotional giveaway items, favorable weather, and the Stateline's best affordable family entertainment venue. Looking forward to the remaining 18 games, we feel confident that we will hit our goal of 3,000 fans per game and more than 150,000 fans through the gates in 2008.”

The RiverHawks have reached the 100,000 mark five consecutive years, including its last two seasons at Marinelli Field. Last year, the team reached 100,000 after 41 home dates.

This year, the RiverHawks have drawn eight sellout crowds, including a franchise-record 6,588 on July 3. Their average attendance of 2,880 is up more than 400 from last season and is within 400 of the facility’s listed capacity of 3,279 each night.

Last month, the RiverHawks passed the 1 million mark in total attendance since the franchise was born in 1993 in Portsmouth, Ohio. The franchise also played in Springfield before it relocated to Rockford for the 2002 season and was renamed the RiverHawks.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet.
