RiverHawks sign rookie, Cohen retires

July 25, 2008 - LOVES PARK - Prior to Thursday’s game, the RiverHawks signed infielder Boe Baitinger and announced the retirement of first baseman Brandon Cohen.

Baitinger, a true rookie, batted .385 with four home runs and 17 RBI for Carthage College this spring. Baitinger stole 34 bases and struck out 10 times in 130 at-bats.

Cohen, who missed more than a month at the start of the season because of a broken hamate bone, batted .214 with a home run and one RBI in 15 games.
