July 20, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Another Rockford RiverHawk is heading to a major-league organization.

The RiverHawks announced Sunday that the Arizona Diamondbacks have signed pitcher Taylor Sinclair. Sinclair, a rookie from the University of Northern Iowa, was 1-0 with a 1.93 earned-run average in four appearances with Rockford. Sinclair struck out 23, walked seven and gave up 13 hits in 23 1/3 innings.

Sinclair is expected to be assigned to the Missoula Osprey of the rookie-level Pioneer League.

Pitcher Drew Himes was re-signed to replace Sinclair on the roster. Himes was 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA in eight appearances earlier this season.

Sinclair struck out a career-high nine and combined with the Rockford bullpen on a five-hitter on Saturday as the RiverHawks beat River City, 6-3. Sinclair lasted 7 2/3 innings and earned his first professional win. He struck out six straight hitters in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. From the second through eighth innings, he retired 18 in order.

Sinclair is the second RiverHawk signed by a major-league team this year. Last month, St. Louis signed catcher Christian Rosa.

Sinclair is one of six former RiverHawks in affiliated baseball. Shortstop Olmo Rosario is a Class AA Eastern League all-star with the San Francisco Giants’ affiliate at Connecticut. Pitcher Justin Dowdy is with Oakland’s AA affiliate at Midland of the Texas League. Pitchers Reed Dickert (Class A West Virginia) and Derrick Ellison (Rookie-level Maryvale) are with Milwaukee.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet.
