July 18, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks lost a pair of leads, and ultimately the game, on Friday.

River City rallied from deficits of four and three on Friday to beat the RiverHawks, 10-9, in front of a sellout crowd of 3,308 at Road Ranger Stadium.

River City rallied for two runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth as Rockford’s 9-6 lead evaporated. Former RiverHawk Andrew Sweet drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.

The RiverHawks took a 4-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles by Jason James, Robbie Knapp, Brad Dutton and Mike Scripture. River City rallied for five runs in the third inning on Brad Hough’s two-run single and Phil Laurent’s three-run homer to take the lead and knock out starter Jim Paduch. Rockford regained the lead in the bottom of the third on Robbie Knapp’s two-run homer, his first home run since the RiverHawks acquired him from Washington on Monday.

In the eighth inning, Rockford reliever Kyffin Marcum (2-1) departed after he gave up a single and committed an error. Luke Bargainer greeted Roy Bringleson with a game-tying single and Sweet followed with the go-ahead sacrifice fly.

Brian Logan (2-1) pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win. Mike Benacka struck out three and walked one in the ninth for his 13th save.

Joe Anthonsen was 0-for-3 with two walks and his career-best hitting streak was snapped at 15 games, four shy of the team record.
