RiverHawks begin six game homestand

June 28, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Fresh off a nine-game road trip, the RiverHawks begin a six-game homestand at Road Ranger Stadium tonight with the opener of a three-game series against the Gateway Grizzlies.

Tonight is Ladies’ Night at the ballpark. The first 1,000 fans receive a Billy Williams bobblehead sponsored by Dr. Pepper, BOB FM and WIFR, the second in the set of five Chicago Cubs Hall of Fame bobbleheads.

Game two is tomorow at 6:05 p.m. K-Mart sponsors Family Night, and kids run the bases after the game. Wristbands will be given away courtesy of Wheels by RT. The RiverHawks welcome in local baseball players for Belvidere Youth Baseball Night.

The series concludes at 7:05 p.m. Monday.

On Tuesday, the RiverHawks host the Windy City Thunderbolts in the start of a three-game series. Saturn of Rockford Service Center hosts the second youth clinic of the year before the game.

Game two is at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday. It’s Splash Day at the ballpark, with beach balls given away courtesy of Sonco Pools, Q98.5 and WREX. Squirt guns will be distributed courtesy of Wal-Mart.

The homestand concludes at 7:05 p.m. Thursday. It’s Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. Patriot hats will be given away courtesy of the Hemmens Cultural Center and WIFR. MDA and WREX sponsors a jersey auction, and fireworks follow the game sponsored by Rock Valley College. It’s also $1 beer night, courtesy of Miller Lite and WXRX.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer.
