RiverHawks game suspended

June 26, 2008 - MARION, Ill. – The RiverHawks game at Southern Illinois Thursday was suspended due to lightning with the score tied at one in the bottom of the fourth.

Greg Burrows’ RBI groundout in the top of the fourth gave Rockford an early lead. Southern Illinois answered with a Brad Miller sacrifice fly to tie the game at one.

The game will resume at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Radio coverage will begin at 6 p.m. on 1330 AM WNTA and online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com. Fans can listen to the first half-hour of play by going to www.frontierleague.com and clicking on the links to listen to Scott Gearman on the Southern Illinois Miners radio network.

Friday’s regularly-scheduled game will be a seven-inning contest and will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game.

The RiverHawks return home Saturday, June 28 for the start of a three-game series against Gateway and a six-game homestand. The first 1000 fans receive a Billy Williams bobblehead, sponsored by Dr. Pepper, BOB FM and WIFR.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer.
