RiverHawks sign left-hander

June 26, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks announced Thursday that they have signed pitcher Marcus McKenzie.

McKenzie, a second-year professional, is a former University of Minnesota pitcher. He was 1-0 with a 5.95 ERA in eight appearances with Southern Illinois earlier this season.

McKenzie, a left-hander, split last season between the Miners and St. Paul of the independent American Association. He was a combined 3-4 with a 6.44 ERA.

To make room on the roster, reliever George Rasiarmos was released.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season.
