June 19, 2008 - EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Christian Reyes hit a two-run home run in the sixth that erased a 5-4 RiverHawks lead and propelled the Evansville Otters to a 6-5 win.
Reyes’ blast capped a four-run rally off reliever Marc Dulkowski (0-1). Trailing 5-2, Tom Pennino led off the sixth with a base hit and took third on Daniel Burton’s double. Both scored on a single from Isaac Omura. Reyes followed with his third homer of the year gave Evansville its first lead.
Rockford struck first with a pair of third-inning runs. Jono Brooks started the frame with a double to end his skid, and he scored on Matt Borman’s one-out single. Borman took second on the throw home and came around to score on Jason James’ single.
The Otters quickly tied the game in the bottom half on Gered Mochizuki’s two-run homer.
Rockford reclaimed the lead in the fifth on Brooks’ solo homer. The RiverHawks added two insurance runs in the sixth on Chris Raber’s run-scoring double and an Aaron Davis single that scored Raber and increased the lead to 5-2.
Bradley Blanks (1-1) earned the win in relief. Jon Lewis earned his seventh save with a scoreless ninth.
Both starters earned no-decisions. Adam Rogers tossed 5 2/3 innings for the Otters and allowed five runs, all earned, on eight hits and no walks. He struck out five.
James tossed five innings for Rockford and allowed two runs, both earned, on five hits and two walks. He struck out three.
The RiverHawks return home Saturday, June 28 for the start of a three-game series against Gateway and a nine-game homestand. The first 1000 fans into the June 28 contest receive a Billy Williams bobblehead, sponsored by BOB FM and WIFR.
