June 16, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill.The RiverHawks made a move to bolster their pitching staff Monday.
Rockford signed left-handed pitcher Peden Rucker. Rucker is a true rookie out of Division II South Carolina-Aiken. He was 11-1 with a 3.45 ERA in 16 appearances, 15 as a starter. He struck out 69 and walked 20 in 101 2/3 innings.
The RiverHawks made room on the roster with the release of infielder Brett Thomas. Thomas hit .206 with no home runs and four RBI in 14 games.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season.
