June 13, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Former Rockford RiverHawks intern Bobby Findlay has graduated to the field.
The Windy City ThunderBolts have signed Findlay, a right-handed pitcher out of Rockford College, to a playing contract. Findlay, 22, was the Regents’ staff ace this spring. He was 7-2 with a 4.35 ERA for Rockford, which won the Northern Athletics Conference tournament championship in May at Road Ranger Stadium.
As an intern with the RiverHawks in 2007, Findlay’s duties included a role as the team’s official scorer. He had continued in that role early this season.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet.
