RiverHawks make roster moves

June 10, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Three new faces will join the RiverHawks in Traverse City tonight.

Rockford signed left-handed pitcher George Rasiarmos and catcher Lucas Hulsey yesterday and outfielder Ryan Czyz today.

The signings came as left-handed pitcher Matt DiBlasi retired, catcher Steve Pickerell was placed on the disabled list and outfielder Corey Stang was released.

Rasiarmos, a true rookie, played in 2007 with the University of Iowa. In one start and 13 relief appearances, he compiled a 1-1 record with a 11.34 ERA. He struck out 15 and walked 17.

Hulsey, also a true rookie, played in 2008 with Missouri Baptist College. He batted .219 with two home runs and 14 RBI.

Czyz spent 2007 with the River City Rascals. He batted .231 in 71 games, hitting two home runs and driving in 18 runs.

DiBlasi retired after he appeared in seven games for the RiverHawks. He had no record and a 8.10 ERA in 6 2/3 innings.

Pickerell was placed on the disabled list after breaking his arm in the first game of a doubleheader at Kalamazoo June 7. Pickerell batted .273 with two home runs and nine RBI in 15 games.

Stang was released after he appeared in 17 games. He batted .210 with one home run and five RBI.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer.
