June 5, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Kyle Maunus hit the go-ahead home run for the second night in a row and Traverse City completed a three-game series sweep on Thursday with a 6-4 win over the Rockford RiverHawks.
Greg Burrows and Jason James homered in a losing effort for the RiverHawks, in front of a near-sellout crowd of 3,072 at Road Ranger Stadium.
The RiverHawks lost for the fifth night in a row and suffered their first sweep at home since June 23-25, 2006, against Chillicothe.
Maunus hit a tie-breaking home run in the Beach Bums’ 6-5 win on Wednesday. On Thursday, he hit a three-run homer to left field in the first inning off Garrett Bauer. Bauer (1-2) also gave up a two-out, two-run double to Jeff Brown in the fifth inning.
Brett Bostelman (2-1) gave up three runs on eight hits over five innings and got the win.
Burrows hit a solo home run in the fourth. In the ninth, James hit a solo home run off Jeff Williams, who earned his second save.
The RiverHawks are in Kalamazoo at 6:05 p.m. CDT Friday.
