June 2, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks signed relief pitcher Shawn Balteff prior to Monday’s game against Windy City.
Balteff, a right-hander, spent last season with the Reno Silver Sox of the independent Golden League. He was 2-3 with a save and a 5.45 earned-run average. He struck out 37 and walked 23 in 34 2/3 innings. He has Rookie-2 status in the Frontier League.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season.
