May 15, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Fans can get a sneak preview of the 2008 Rockford RiverHawks this weekend at area Kmart stores.
The RiverHawks will hold simultaneous 2008 Season Kickoff Parties noon-4 p.m. Sunday at the newly transformed Kmart stores located at 1321 Sandy Hollow Road and 5909 East State Street.
Mascot Rocko the RiverHawk and members of the team will be on hand to sign autographs and meet the public. Refreshments will be provided by Dr Pepper/ Snapple Group and musical entertainment by Sound Productions DJ Service.
Fans can register for drawings for Opening Night tickets and RiverHawks merchandise. Ticket information will also be available.
“With the season opener coming up next Wednesday, it’s an exciting opportunity for families to meet the players and get a taste of the family fun that is a staple of RiverHawks baseball,” general manager Josh Olerud said.
Opening Night is at 7:05 p.m. May 21, when the RiverHawks host River City. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer.
